Using Movies in the Counselor Education Curriculum

What is a Roundtable Session?

Our roundtable sessions offer a chance to dive into a topic with an expert presenter, or team of presenters. They provide an opportunity to dig deeply into a particular topic during a 90-minute presentation.

Description

Using movies in the classroom setting is not new in counselor education. While using media such as movies and TV series are welcomed to the new digital generations of counselors, effective use of movies as teaching tool requires thoughtful and intentional selection and course design. Two counselor educators who have used a variety of movies and TV series in many classes will share their experiences with a critical pedagogical lens. Implications for multicultural and social justice competence will also be discussed in this 1.5-hour TCR Roundtable webinar.
